I had a vision. And this is how it came together.

The vision? Berry colors with luscious fruits. Rich velvets with cranberry. Pomegranate red lips with rose petals and wispy hair. Ruby red nails and lots of crisp autumn sun flair.

I sent out a model call and created a mood board of my vision for each of the girls to submit outfits they felt fit this vision. My makeup artist is a fabulous person to collaborate with so I shared my vision and mood boards and she went on a search for the perfect makeup looks and hair styles. I can always count on her to come up with even more inspiration for a project and sure enough, we were immersed in concepts and ideas for this shoot.

Originally I wanted an apple orchard. But when we searched for the location we came upon a grove of trees with exactly the look I wanted…the ground beneath the trees was filled with scattered leaves and the sun was in the perfect position for a sunset shoot.

I hand-crafted each of the floral crowns and I’ll post about that in another blog-entry (the how and the details). I wanted show-case pieces for this shoot and hand-making them to fit each girl and her outfit was a must to come up with the exact look I had in my head.

The details were important as well—we brought fresh raspberries, blackberries, apples and pomegranates. They were not only a gorgeous prop but the girls snacked on them in between shots!

I love it when my vision comes to life.
