Amanda was a-m-a-z-i-n-g to photograph! At her design-consultation in the studio we talked about her style and what she had in mind—she and her mom Deborah came with lots of  ideas and I knew from that meeting that this was going to be a fun senior photo shoot!

She brought a variety of looks and outfits that ranged from classy to edgy. She wanted to show her true style and personality and her clothing choices reflected that well—from a lacy black dress to her head-band with cut-off shorts and army boots. She chose the “STYLE SESSION” which is our extended session for senior pictures that includes make-up, unlimited clothing changes and a choice of many locations in and around the Sacramento area including Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Rocklin, and even up into the Auburn area. We offer our studio for the make-up session for extra fun and comfort and then we venture to outer areas.

Sara did a fabulous job on her make-up and we started with some classic shots in the studio with a bit of style added for fun. Then off to the outdoors and a nearby historic town for some country looks with an edgy twist.

Amanda will be graduating in a few short weeks—off the big wide world she goes! Congrats to her and all of the seniors (including my son) who are antsy to receive that piece of paper that we call a…diploma.

Favorites? Lots. Here are the ones at the top of my list:

KENDALL—oh KENDALL! I first met Kendall when I photographed her gorgeous older sister Bryce 2 years ago. How time flies…now Kendall is just DAYS away from graduating! In fact…just next week!

She was a 2013 Spokesmodel for Teri Fode Seniors…and we loved her images from that session so much that we used them everywhere for the 2013 senior year (which is what we DO with our spokesmodel images anyway, of course!). The well-known “tangerine-flower” image that has been talked about by so many clients starred, you guessed it, KENDALL.

Her official senior session created some equally amazing images because Kendall is simply a fashionista at heart! Not only that, but her mom is quite the inspiration for her girls when it comes to style. Putting together some amazing outfits was not difficult when fashion runs in their blood!

Here are some favorites…and of course a reposting of our favorite model images of Kendall.

Please…indulge me. This is a post by a mom. Who is a  photographer. Specifically, a senior portrait photographer. Who has a son…who is…a SENIOR. Class of twenty thirteen. Needless to say, this is a long post with a ton of images. Because, quite frankly, I can’t help myself.

We planned  Jordan’s senior photo shoot around his passions and my vision to capture his passions. One photo shoot actually turned into…three. We traveled to my favorite areas to shoot in and also included a session at the studio. Jordan is as comfortable in a Calvin Klein suit as he is his favorite jeans and Chuck Taylors so we wanted to capture all of his looks. This is actually a perfect example of senior portraits and the goal of capturing the many sides of a teen including all of his/her interests, hobbies and tastes in style and fashion.

Of course as Jordan’s mom I think he’s amazing. That goes without saying. But beyond that I can tell you that he really IS amazing. He is dependable, kind, dedicated and honest. He has a huge heart and is a young man of God, always seeking to do what’s right. To know him is to love him. And as a photographer I have to say he’s pretty easy to photograph.

I hear myself saying the typical statement that all of my clients say…”I can’t believe he’s graduating already”. Time goes by so fast. It really seems like just yesterday that I was going to elementary parent-teacher conferences. And in less than a month…he’ll be entering the big wide world as a young adult.

Ready for my faves? Here they are.

Oh Sam!

I met with Sam and her mom for a senior style consultation in the studio and I knew this session would be full of amazing and fun fashions! I loved their style ideas and when Sam texted me her choices for her senior photo shoot I literally *gasped*. Adorable—fashion-style-fun.

I especially loved the top with the emerald-colored jewel (mint and emerald is a pantone pick for this season, you know). It photographed even better than I imagined.

One thing I especially love is when both mom and dad can make it to the session. We had a fabulous afternoon together and choosing favorites from this session was not too easy. Here they are.

Oh. My. Courtney was amazing to photograph and I loved her style.

When we went through all of her clothing selections I immediately knew where we would photograph the high-low dress to create a vintage forest feel. I had some floral pieces in the studio and she was open to wearing a hair accessory so I created a vintage look for her dress using various florals and off we went. The lighting was perfect and I couldn’t have been more creatively-excited to process these images.

Courtney is the youngest of two and we photographed her older sister just a few short years ago…today was her day to shine.

Here are a few from her senior pictures that were our faves:

Oh KAYLA! You SHINE!

Yes, Kayla is another fashionista that was absolutely AMAZING to photograph. She has a natural “print ad” look that is effortless to capture and on top of that she has a sense of style that just won’t quit. I LOVED her clothing choices and accessories. She chose outfits that were fun and playful as well as elegant and stylish.

Kayla chose our “Style Session” which includes a 30 minute pre-session with our makeup artist Sara. She came with her hair styled by her own hair-stylist and Sara did makeup to compliment her skin tones and personal taste. One of the things that girls love about our Style Session is the unlimited looks they are allowed together with an extra makeup application that allows them to go with a more dramatic look if desired.

Here are some of my personal favorites from Kayla’s senior portraits, shot in a nearby urban-country setting complete with a country field.
