A few days ago we featured the maternity session and nursery images with Kealey’s mommy and daddy here—and now, her very own DEBUT! She’s absolutely adorable and fits her very Pink and Posh nursery to a tee.

Kealey is a little miracle—she arrived much earlier than anyone anticipated. She was born prematurely (6 weeks prior to full term) weighing 4 pounds, 14 ounces and had to stay in the hospital for several weeks after she was born. Her parents were there with her every day and were thrilled when they were able to finally bring her home! I photographed her at exactly 3 weeks old. She’s doing so well and is gaining healthy weight day-by-day!

Of course as a follow-up to her maternity and nursery images you would expect no less than to see baby Kealey in PINK…so these images will not disappoint! Kendra and I are already talking about the 6-month session with, you guessed it: MORE PINK! I have so many fun ideas for that session—I love photographing babies and the sitting stage is particularly fun because they are happy, giggly, fun…and can’t MOVE away from the camera yet LOL! Stay tuned for those images down the road.

So here she is, in her debut  newborn photo session…cutest baby in Sacramento (her mommy and daddy would tell you that!), little baby Kealey in her very posh designer nursery:

PART I: ANTICIPATING KEALEY

This is the most ADORABLE pink nursery I’ve ever seen…and I’ve seen some amazing nurseries! It’s dripping with chic style and posh design, just WAITING for baby to arrive and make her statement! Well…baby actually HAS arrived and that will be POST II in a day or two…in the meantime, this post will debut baby Kealey’s hip new world, drenching in pink-on-pink with her very own crystal chandelier!

When Kendra called to tell me she was pregnant, I knew her maternity photo session would be amazing. I met her several years ago for a photo session and she is one classy and stylish woman! Her home is impeccable, designed with her amazing touch. Her walls are filled with beautiful displays of photographs and her “wedding wall” is amazingly inspirational to say the least. She doesn’t do anything half-way, so I KNEW her baby-nursery would be amazing.

And so it is. She knew exactly how she wanted to design it—PINK-ON-PINK with vintage Barbie Doll photos—painted with stripes and accented with polka-dot bedding. It’s finished with white with a touch of black (in the photographs of course that she chose from this session, framed in silver and now displayed on a white shelf).

The baby closet is filled with chic and trendy clothes, just waiting for baby Kealey to grow into them! After the maternity pictures, I spent extra time in the nursery photographing the adorable details. Kendra ordered one of our Art Books with her Maternity and Newborn Collection—and I can’t WAIT to design it for her using the nursery as the style and design inspiration for the book. Photographing the nursery is one of the BEST advantages to scheduling your maternity session in your own home—and our sessions include that as an option.

Baby Kealey featured NEXT!

In the midst of senior-portrait season, we have a beautiful story to tell: the MIRACLE BABY STORY.

I met Jeana many, many years ago and we instantly become friends. The one thing I’ve always known about Jeana is that she LOVES being a mom—one of the many things we’ve shared in common. Thirteen years ago she was celebrating the birth of her first child, Paige (who, by the way, is one of the most photogenic girls by far I’ve ever photographed—watch for her updated photo session to post soon!). Fast forward to just a few short weeks ago, another reason to celebrate: the birth of her son LUKE. He’s actually a miracle-baby…and an answer to prayer.

After having Paige, Jeana knew she wanted another baby. In fact, it was one of the greatest desires of her heart. Many years later, Paige was still an only-child (a happy one, and so were her parents—but they all longed for another family member!) When hope was all but lost, Jeana breathed a prayer to God: “please take away my desire for a baby, please! Or, if you will it to be so, please bless me with another child.” She was truly willing for Him to change her heart and take away the deep yearning she had carried with her for many years to give Paige a baby brother or sister. Miracle of miracles, shortly thereafter (and I don’t say that lightly, because while it was relatively short it was a very, very, long and patient wait for the family at hand), Jeana and Mike were blessed with the news that they were going to have a baby. And the night they shared it with Paige, lots of happy and excited tears were shed by all three of them.

Photographing babies is something that I love because of the pureness and simplicity in the images and the happiness and joy that everyone in the family is experiencing at the birth of the new little family member. Photographing THIS baby…was even more special because I had been through the tears, anguish, pain and then joy WITH this family.

So without further hesitation, I am happy to share some of my favorites from this BABY STORY:

Last month I was contacted by Stephanie Boozer from PPA Magazine (the official magazine for Professional Photographers of America) and my thought process was like this: “Wait…what? Who is this?”. Yeah, exactly like that. She said she wanted to feature my studio in the March issue of PPA Magazine and wanted to know if I was interested. “Hmmmm. Let me get back to you on that”. REALLY? Of COURSE I’m interested! She scheduled a phone interview for an hour later that week. During the interview I talked about a mile a minute and I could hear the sound of her keyborad flying in the background.

As if that wasn’t enough, Jeff Kent contacted me while we were waiting for hours in the Tampa airport (delayed while coming back from SYNC due to the monster storm raging through the country!) asking me to do the “Goods Splash Page” in the same issue!

It’s all been so exciting these past few months…especially as I reflect on that huge decision to risk it all to follow a dream that has changed our lives drastically (in such a huge, blessed way) in these past few years since I left the corporate world. People dream about changing their lives late in life…and it’s hard. Most people DON’T do it because it’s…scary. And Risky.  And…HARD. But in the end, doing it is so worth it.

God is good and so faithful to us…we have dedicated our business to Him and He has in turn blessed us in so many ways. This fun little feature is just a cherry on top of it all and I’m so excited to share it.

I loved this session—Kelsey was so easy to photograph and has the most GORGEOUS eyes EVER. They’re peircingly striking and I loved every single image we shot of her. Her style of clothes and choices of accessories made this session stylish and fabulous.

We shot her last segment in a nearby field and this first image shows off her eyes so incredibly—there are so many more images to share wth her and her family and I had a hard time narrowing down some of my favorites.
