Maddie is a HORSE LOVER and I LOVED photographing her with Kallie! Truth is, I’m also a horse-lover and grew up with horses in Montana. One of my FAVORITE sessions is photographing senior pictures with horses.
Maddie does barrel-racing and has been doing it for years. It’s her heart and her passion and capturing this side of her was ever-important when creating her senior images. We started at her home (yes—we are known for location photo session even at your own property!) and ventured to the stables where Kallie is boarded.
Maddie’s parents ordered a large canvas-wrap of the black and white image—they were specifically wanting a very “artsy” image with her horse. I shot this with that in mind.
Here are some favorites from her senior photo shoot in Loomis:
Last month I was contacted by Stephanie Boozer from PPA Magazine (the official magazine for Professional Photographers of America) and my thought process was like this: “Wait…what? Who is this?”. Yeah, exactly like that. She said she wanted to feature my studio in the March issue of PPA Magazine and wanted to know if I was interested. “Hmmmm. Let me get back to you on that”. REALLY? Of COURSE I’m interested! She scheduled a phone interview for an hour later that week. During the interview I talked about a mile a minute and I could hear the sound of her keyborad flying in the background.
As if that wasn’t enough, Jeff Kent contacted me while we were waiting for hours in the Tampa airport (delayed while coming back from SYNC due to the monster storm raging through the country!) asking me to do the “Goods Splash Page” in the same issue!
It’s all been so exciting these past few months…especially as I reflect on that huge decision to risk it all to follow a dream that has changed our lives drastically (in such a huge, blessed way) in these past few years since I left the corporate world. People dream about changing their lives late in life…and it’s hard. Most people DON’T do it because it’s…scary. And Risky. And…HARD. But in the end, doing it is so worth it.
God is good and so faithful to us…we have dedicated our business to Him and He has in turn blessed us in so many ways. This fun little feature is just a cherry on top of it all and I’m so excited to share it.
MEET JACK…oh, and mommy and daddy! He’s adorable and he’s now walking! I photographed this family on a brisk fall day…and the fall leaves on the front lawn combined with the brisk cool air was perfect for the adorable little hat and coat mom chose for Jack! In fact, she did FABULOUS with their entire wardrobe choice for this session.
Jack has a sweet smile and loved the leaves…and now that he’s walking he wasn’t too thrilled to stay in one place too long so we captured him just being himself—fast and curious! :)
Meet baby Jack and his mommy and daddy (and thanks to both of them for their patience with this post!!)
Destination Session? No problem! Especially if it’s my sister’s kids in Montana! :) The special occasion was the graduation of my nephew Ryan and it was time for family portraits too! One thing about Montana—there’s no lack of scenery and beauty!
We always have a great time shopping for their portrait session—they really get into it—we went to church, ate hoagies and cheese fries at Hoagieville, and then shopped for the entire afternoon using their GORGEOUS home decor as the foundation of the color scheme. We found Bailey’s adorble olive green shirt dress first so everything revolved around little miss princess! ;) Very fitting…”I know, huh, Bailey!?!” (wink, wink).
For those of you that don’t know, my sister is also a professional photographer (we grew up with grandparents who were professional photographers, so it was a natural fit for both of us!)…her website is located at Heidi Z Photography and she loves senior portraits too!
This was a SENIOR STYLE SESSION, and Sara and I went to Alexis’ beautiful and stunning home to create her unique senior portraits!
Alexis is multi-talented…she plays the guitar, the piano and the flute! This sneak peek showcases her guitar but we captured some great shots of her flute and piano-talents as well. Okay…as if that wasn’t enough, she also speaks 3 additonal languages!! She’ll be studying abroad and has a strong interest in doing something with Foreign Relations…how exciting is THAT?!
I had a great time with her…we utilized the best lighting in the house and used lots of different rooms to create some fun and edgy looks with a fashion twist!
I just have to say that anytime I have a toddler—or two—on the schedule for a session, I know I can skip working out at the gym (or, I can skip the GUILT of NOT going to the gym) on that particular day! Getting down on their level and relating to them, playing with them, and photographing them is HARD WORK I tell ya! But oh the joys…I love my job.
This family is FULL of energy…even mom and dad. They work hard and they play hard and I enjoyed every minute of this session. Here are a few photos from a recent session with the B. family:
