All About Teri!

THE DREAM: I’m one of those lucky people that gets to do what they love to do in life and earn a living at it. But truly, it’s been a long journey to get to this point. I left the corporate world after 20 years and pursued a dream. What I learned in that process is that the reason many people don’t pursue their dreams in life is due to the plain hard work that’s involved and the fear of change—because it isn’t easy. But that’s another story for another day.
THE ART: Photography intrigues me. It always has. I can look at an old photograph full of people I’ve never met and get lost in the “moment” that it was taken. I love old black and white photos that are tattered at the edges. I love the history and the mystery of a time that was frozen forever.
I grew up in a photography studio—so to speak. My grandparents owned “the” portrait studio of their day on Main Street in Chico, California for 40 years. Photography is in my blood. My work is inspired by my eclectic taste in art, music and décor. I won’t say too much more about my style since you can browse the galleries of our websites and see what my eye sees when I’m behind the lens.
THE “WE”: The “we” behind Teri Fode Photography is my business partner and husband, Don and myself. Why just my name? I started the business and he joined a few years later so we kept just my name instead of changing it to “Fode Photography”. It’s the whole branding theory thing and name recognition. Besides, he likes being the “it guy” behind the artist. He keeps me grounded and the business on track.
THE REAL ME: The best for last: if you really want to know what matters most to me, you can read about it here: http://www.terifode.typepad.com/inspirations. God changed my heart and my life at the age of 28. I’ve never been the same since. I live my life like this: God first, family second, and everything else after that. Pretty simple. It makes life sweet.
And that’s me in a nutshell.
